The Shearer's WifeSteph married Simon the shearer about 30 years ago, after first meeting him in a wool shed. Originally from New Zealand, Simon shears sheep and alpacas.
Simon enthusiastically tries, tests and approves each soap. Steph and Simon live on lifestyle block outside of Orange in the beautiful Central Tablelands region of NSW. What began many years ago as a fascination for making soap for her family, has culminated into an obsession in the alchemy of mixing lye with oil to create these unique soaps. Combined with Steph's love of working with colours and natural ingredients both grown and gathered, she has turned soapmaking into an art form. In soapmaking the possibilities are endless, most of Steph's ingredients are plant derived. Some colours come from plant infusions, others from clay. Different ingredients add different properties, some oils are more conditioning or cleansing whereas others produce a lovely creamy lather. All pigmentation in our soaps is natural. |
Benefits of natural handmade soapsOur soaps are free of synthetic ingredients such as mica, oxides, synthetic fragrances, titanium dioxide or synthetic pigments.
Also we don't use synthetic foaming agents and irritating detergents. Handmade soaps are gentle and great for your skin! The soaps are all first tested and approved by Simon, the shearer. All Shearer's Wife soaps are hand made, this means that they are unique and batches may vary in colour, shape and appearance. Some of the plant based colours may fade over time, this does not affect the quality of the soap. You will enjoy the luxury of this soap right down to the last wash! |
Testimonials
The Shearer's soap with coffee and beer is the best soap I have ever used to get Oil paint out of my paint brushes and off my skin. Normally I have to scrub forever but this is so gentle and quick! I'll be giving the extras to my painting friends. Sarah
